Target Audience

We have decided to give our film, November 13th, a '15' rating, so we will have to consider the target audience for this certificate. Horror films, are generally speaking, preferred by men, so this is part of our target audience:
  • Teenage (15+) boys
Although it is not the common stereotype, more and more women are watching horror/thriller films and this effects our target audience

  • Teenage (15+) girls
Adults also play a key part in the target audience of this film, although the film could me more mature in content, not necessarily in plot, if it was rated an 18. Older adults, may not prefer to watch horror films, and neither would the elderly, so the final part of our target audience is made up of:

  • Adults aged 20-35

Because our target audience is predominantly made up of teenagers, the release of the film would be an issue. The time of year when a film is released is crucial for the film, for example, if you released a christmas film in April, you wouldn't get many views. For our film we would release it just before a school holiday, probably in winter when the cinema is a popular, so just before the christmas holidays, of the February half term.
